The Economic Stimulus Package That Costs The Taxpayer Nothing

We have all heard about former President George Bush's $750 Billion Bailout Package and President Barack Obama's upcoming $850 Billion Economic Stimulus Package, which many predict will end up being over $1 Trillion. Of course many do not think about the fact that both of these packages will have to be paid for by the taxpayers over many decades.

Most people however are not aware of the fact that we presently are going through an Economic Stimulus Package that will not cost the taxpayers a single penny, and that is the drop in fuel prices at the pumps.

We all felt the pain when the fuel prices were over $4 per gallon, and of course we were expecting even worse with virtually every financial guru saying we would soon be paying anywhere from $5 per gallon to as much as $8 per gallon.

Of course thankfully we at least have not seen the prices as high as was being predicted, and in fact we now have prices that not one financial guru was predicting. With prices now below $2 per gallon, the savings is equal to an approximately $400 billion boost to the economy, which is about half as much as either President Bush's or President Obama's plans, with the big difference of this one not costing the taxpayers a cent.

And of course another benefit is that much of the savings is money that would have gone to foreign nations, but is now staying in our country. It can take many months for any boost to the economy to show up, but hopefully it will help in some way.

I personally have to fill my tank two to three times per week, and I was spending about $65 per fillup, whereas today I am spending about $25, saving me $80 - $120 per week. This is real savings that has really helped my budget. Most people of course use a tank or less per week, however even a savings of $20 or $30 per week gives a boost to the family budget.

Have the lower fuel prices helped you?

Our gas fuel bills have also gone down here in Arizona...however, I do see it starting to creep up again. It really has had a huge difference since the $4.00 days. Most of our business is far from where we live so we were really sweating it out everytime we had to refuel. ...like you 2 or 3 times a week. I will be very happy if it stays put for awhile, or even drops some more!
